MARK YOUR CALENDARS: ANNUAL MEETING COMING JANUARY 19;
COUNTY COMMISSIONER MINOR TO SPEAK

The 2023 annual meeting of the Linene Woods Homeowners Association will be held Thursday, January 19 at 7 p. m. This year we’ll be able to return to the Sealey Elementary School Media Center on Allen Road. Meeting documents will be sent shortly including a proxy if you are unable to attend. County Commissioner Rick Minor, whose area of responsibility includes Linene Woods, will be our special speaker.

DUES ARE PAYABLE BY APRIL 1
Homeowner dues are $165 per lot and are payable no later than April 1. Dues may be sent to LWHA, P.O. Box 180593, Tallahassee FL 32318.

LINENE WOODS IS 45!
This past December 29 marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the Linene Woods neighborhood and homeowners association. We’re looking pretty good for our age.

PAVING REPAIRS UNDERWAY
The Leon County public works department has begun to repair uneven road surfaces in the
neighborhood. The Nottingham entry is partially complete and work will be done at the
Castleton/Reading Lane intersection. This has been a long process but it looks like we’re making progress.

REMINDERS:ON-STREET PARKING IS TEMPORARY
Please remember that parking on the street is to be temporary, not long-term.

TREE REMOVAL
If you think that a tree must be removed from your property, please use the following criteria:

Trees may be removed without Architectural Control Committee approval if:

*Diseased or dead
*Leaning dangerously toward structures, driveway or overhead wires
*Trunk is seriously compromised
*Potential interference with structure, driveway or drain field
*Less than 4 inches in diameter at 4-foot height
*Within ten feet of the house structure

The Architectural Control Committee is available to help determine if a tree meets these criteria. Please contact Linda Vaughn.

BE AWARE OF DANGER TO AND FROM YOUR CATS AND DOGS
Predators, such as coyotes and bobcats, are known in this area and they are a danger to small animals. Cats in particular, since they tend to roam, are especially vulnerable. Please consider keeping them indoors. Conversely, cats are a danger to birds. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service estimates that cats in this country kill more than 3.5 billion birds each year, and more than 6 billion mammals as well.

By Leon County ordinance, dogs outside their yards are to be kept under leash or voice control. If you see dogs running loose without an owner, you can call Leon County Animal Control (during work hours) at 606-5400, or, after hours, the Leon County Sheriff’s non-emergency number 606-3300. (And if the dogs are in the Linene neighborhood, you can also let Bill Needham know (admin@linenewoods.org) so he can send a general email to our neighborhood to alert everyone.) Barking dogs have been reported by some homeowners. Some of these are certainly outside the neighborhood. Complaints about barking dogs can be directed to the Leon County Animal Control office. Also be aware that Leon County has recently passed an ordinance banning the tethering of dogs in a yard without their owners present.

CITY WARNS OF UTILITY SCAM
The City of Tallahassee has sent out a warning about scammers who telephone and try to demand immediate payment of utility bills. The City points out that its representatives will never demand immediate payment in any form. If you receive such calls, simply hang up. If you have concerns about your utilities account, call the city utility department directly at (850) 891-4968.

COVENANTS & RESTRICTIONS
If you have any questions about what is covered in the Linene Woods Covenants & Restrictions, you may check our website (linenewoods.org). These covenants are intended to help keep our neighborhood an attractive and safe place for everyone here. Here is the direct link:
